Shop tools

I'm sure everyone has one or they just memorize how long each of the bolts are.  One for each of the primary covers and cam covers.

Burnin'

The indoor commune heat source.  It can be -20 outside and this little baby keeps the Commune at a toasty 75-80.

More Fender

Well, I settled again and I'm using my ugly-as-fuck rear fender again.  I think it had to do with the near-40 temps we had and thinking that the FC would run in like 10 minutes.  Anyways, I figured out that after I trimmed my fender, there was not enough rigidity to support the seat.  So every bump, I slammed the fender further onto the fender.

This is the scrap iron brace I made up.  Works BITCHIN!!  I could put a 300-pounds of roll her in flour and look for the wet spot lovin' on the fender now.  I feel extra proud that I radiused the flat iron with a 3lb sledge and the top of my vise.

Fender work

Never got above the teens outside yesterday so I decided to tear into the FC's rear fender.  Most likely the cause of my front cylinder melt down.

This fender started life as a stock HD fender that came with the pile of parts when I got the FC.  It had been modded before and I modded it again making it a bastard-bastard fender.  I didn't want to dump cash into a new fender so I made it work.  It is a complete hack job but it did its duty.

Here is a lesson as to why you need to properly space the tire from the fender.

The PBR-fueled ride that killed the motor also managed to do this to the fender.  Yes, that is heat discoloration from the tire and busted bondo.

Oliver came out for a little shop help last night.

Choked up

Not too many things get me choked up, but Pearl Harbor (not the movie) is one of them.  Don't know why in particular, but it does.

Taticool

So I decided to spruce up the old 870 magnum.  Standard 870, with an awesome 90's engraved stock that was given as a gift.

Add one 6-position side folding stock.

Add one 18.5" barrel.

7-shot extension and synthetic forend.

Compact form.

What a mess...

My garage has turned into a mess.  A summer of quick fixes to get riding and small projects have left tools and parts scattered all over.  With a good couple of inches of snow today, it was time to clean up my winter home.
